Autumn into Winter
Whispers and songs of Autumn flowing through the air on a gentle breeze. The rusty hues of oranges, reds and browns satisfyingly crunch underfoot as the delicate leaves crumble into Earth which will help next years growth to bloom.
The air, crisp and cold speaks of Winter soon taking over. The first frost clinging to the crimson leaves scattered across the pavement. More float down softly, the tiny ice crystals along their edges glittering in the sunlight, so unusually bright for this time of year.
A leaf lands delicately on the water, but still causes ripples to shout of it's arrival. It dances with the river's current, swirling this way and that, gradually making it's way downstream. It's in no hurry and takes the time to enjoy it's journey.
The leaf passes a waterfall of light as the sunshine plays with a willow tree, it's delicate limbs swaying softly with the wind's caress causing it's leaves to glitter beautifully. Misty steam rising from the water swirls about the tree like a comforting blanket of protection.
Fallen leaves make a pattering sound as they roll along the path, joining the wind in it's journey downstream. They move with some purpose unknown, but they speak of it loudly.
Tiny plip-plop sounds join the orchestra as the light hits the frosty leaves of a chestnut tree. The ice melts and rains gently down, joining the great mass of dropets that form the river. A spectacular show of circular ripples begins, the bright sunshine glinting off each ring as it expands to nothing. Birds sing to acompany the watery instruments and fly back and forth gleaming in the sun, singing of a change in the seasons.
